Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal
The Miraculous Medal is one of the most recognized Marian devotional medals in the Catholic faith. Its origin dates to 1830 in Paris, France, following the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Labouré.
Design
Front:
The front depicts the Blessed Virgin Mary with rays extending from her hands, traditionally representing the graces bestowed through her intercession. Surrounding Mary is the prayer:
“O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.”
Reverse:
The reverse traditionally features the letter “M” beneath a cross, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by a sword. The design is surrounded by twelve stars.
Faith & Devotion
For generations, Catholics around the world have worn the Miraculous Medal as an expression of faith, devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and a reminder to seek her intercession.
It is a meaningful religious gift for occasions including Baptism, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special milestones.
