An 18kt Lady of the Miraculous Medal is a religious medal made from 18 karat gold, which is 75% pure gold mixed with 25% other metals for strength and durability. The medal belongs to the devotion to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, a Marian devotion originating from the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to Saint Catherine Laboure in 1830 in Paris, France.
Material
Crafted from 18 karat gold. The high gold content gives it a rich yellow hue and ensures its long lasting quality.
Design
Front: an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with rays of light streaming from her outstretched hands, symbolising the graces she bestows upon those who ask. Surrounding this image is the inscription, "O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee", a reference to the dogma of the Immaculate Conception.
Back: a large "M" surmounted by a cross, with two hearts below, the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned with thorns and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced by a sword. This side may also include twelve stars, representing the twelve apostles.

The Miraculous Medal is believed to bring special graces to those who wear it with faith. According to tradition, those who wear the medal, particularly after it has been blessed by a priest, receive the protection and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
